Biggest-ever appeal for our hospital launched at Town Hall!

The Children’s Hospital Charity officially launched the Building a Better Future appeal for an expanded Emergency Department, a renovated Cancer Ward and a brand new Helipad for our hospital, with an event at Sheffield Town Hall on Wednesday 10th October.

Guests included The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Magid Magid, Paul Firth, Chair of The Children’s Hospital Charity and Sarah Jones, Chair of Sheffield Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The evening featured presentations from key clinicians as well as the emotional stories of families helped by the hospital.

In total, £14.25m needs to be raised for the appeal. It follows the completion of the ‘Make it Better’ appeal which raised over £10m towards three world-class new hospital wards and which opened to young patients and their families in April 2018.

The Children’s Hospital Charity’s Head of Fundraising, Jessica Storer said: “It was a great evening and really heart-warming to see so many commit to build a better future for Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

"We are at the very beginning of our biggest-ever fundraising appeal and these projects have never been more needed. Every donation, large or small, will make a difference to young patients from across the UK and beyond, who depend on our hospital’s excellent care.”
