Walker Vs Willett Golf Day raises over £70K for Bright Young Dreams

Our second annual Dan Walker Vs Danny Willett Celebrity Golf Day has raised over £70K for Bright Young Dreams!

Channel 5’s Dan Walker and former Masters champion Danny Willett and their celebrity friends have raised over £70,000 for The Children’s Hospital Charity at their golf day that took place on Friday 12th July.

The second annual event at Rotherham Golf Club saw teams of three Charity supporters pay to play alongside a celebrity team member as funds were raised for the Charity patron-led mental health campaign Bright Young Dreams.

Celebrity guests included David Hirst, Johnny Morris, Troy Deeney, Brian McFadden, Keith Duffy, Carl Bradshaw, Dane Whitehouse, Peter Duffield, Pete McKee, Rick Shiels, Neil Wain, Gethin Jones, Nadiya Bychkova, Gareth Barry, Danny Wilson, James Bye, Carl Tyler, Simon Grayson, Ryan Taylor, Simon Dyson, Gerry Taggert, John Beresford, Lee Bullen, DJ Silk and Matthew Hoggard.

Having been a patron of the charity since 2012, Dan Walker has hosted many golf days in support of The Children’s Hospital Charity, raising vital funds to help Sheffield Children’s go above and beyond the NHS provision.

As one of just three standalone children’s hospitals in the UK, Sheffield Children’s treats young people from across the UK and beyond.

Formed in December 2023, Bright Young Dreams was created by The Children’s Hospital Charity patrons Dan Walker, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and Jon Richardson to help address the urgent global crisis in children’s mental health. Funds raised from the Walker Vs Willett Golf Day will seek to support the finance of clinical advancements, and the investment in updated, world-class infrastructure at Sheffield Children’s.

The Golf Day was kindly supported by Rotherham Golf Club, Morrisons, Veezu and The Children’s Hospital Charity volunteers, as well as sponsors Barclays, Porsche Sheffield, Molson Coors, Thornbridge Brewery, Andrew Askwith and AHJ Wills and Estates.

Dan Walker said: “What an amazing day and an incredible amount of money. There are so many people who helped to make it special and I’m looking forward to next year’s event already”.

Rob Gurruchaga, Development Officer at The Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “It was a brilliant day with an outstanding lineup! We can’t thank Dan, Danny and everyone involved enough. This has been our most successful Golf Day to date, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of those who joined us, donated auction prizes, sponsored us, and more.”
