Dr Meena Balasubramanian has undertaken a pilot study focused on a variant of Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bone disease) known as Cole-Carpenter Syndrome thanks to Charity funding.

Dr Meena Balasubramanian is a genetics doctor and the Clinical Director of Research at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust. Meena is a Professor of Medical Genetics at The University of Sheffield and conducts her research collaboratively with both organisations. Meena’s area of interest focuses on the genetics of Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) which is often known as brittle bone disease.
Meena has undertaken a pilot study focused on a variant of Osteogenesis Imperfecta known as Cole-Carpenter Syndrome. Thanks to this pilot study Meena has been able to apply for further funding with other research councils to hopefully develop treatments for children with the condition.
