Sheffield Children’s Helipad Now Open Thanks to Your Support

We are thrilled to announce that the new helipad at Sheffield Children’s is now open and operational! This new facility will provide a direct route for children in need of urgent care, ensuring they receive the best possible treatment at Sheffield Children’s Emergency Department without delay.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, including the public, local businesses, and charitable partners, we reached our £6 million fundraising goal, and the helipad is now ready to enhance the care we offer to children and young people across the region!

Ruth Brown, Chief Executive of Sheffield Children’s, said: “In the week that Sheffield Children’s celebrates its 148th birthday, we are delighted to share that we have lift off! We have been providing care for children and young people for 148 years, and what remains constant is that we’re always looking for ways to innovate and improve the way we care for children.”

John Armstrong, CEO of The Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We couldn’t be happier to have funded the helipad and we would like to thank everyone involved, from our young Helipad Heroes who raised money through bake sales, to our corporate partners, grant-making bodies, and charities. The Children’s Hospital Charity reached the £6 million target in March of 2023, and we are in awe of the work that went into the build of this vital facility. We are so grateful for each and every one of our supporters.”
