Avid runner Phil began volunteering for The Children’s Hospital Charity to thank our hospital for the care his two daughters received.
“It’s my way of giving something back; my daughters Amy and Megan have been in the hospital numerous times, for operations and for A&E. It’s an invaluable resource to have on our doorstep”.
Phil has completed numerous half marathons and eight Great North Runs as he combined his passion for running with fundraising for Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
“I think the great thing about the charity’s events is that it’s open to all people of all abilities. I think people worry that you’ve got to be a serious athlete but it’s not about that it’s about taking part and being part of the team. The charity has events for everyone”.
In addition to Phil’s running, the Clarke family have also supported the charity at several other events. Amy and Megan recently led out the Sheffield Wednesday team as mascots to raise awareness for the charity before the globally-televised FA Cup tie with Swansea City.
“It’s fantastic to raise awareness for the charity and to help but football is also a huge passion of ours so it was really special to combine the two”.
