Event volunteer Mike, seen here on the right, first got involved with The Children’s Hospital Charity through his local sports club.

Now retired, his favourite events include route marshalling at running events and collections at the matches of his beloved Sheffield United.

“I like my football so that’s always a great one! Almost everyone has got a connection to the hospital, whether that is through themselves, their children or grandchildren.

“Volunteering for the charity is great because everyone’s together”.

Mike’s message to others considering volunteering is simple: “Give it a try, come along and you’ll enjoy it”
