Northern Lights Trek 2026

Join us on a trek through Iceland’s stunning scenery, from volcanic mountains to bubbling hot springs, with the chance to see the Northern Lights! Every step helps support The Children’s Hospital Charity.

Your journey begins at the shores of Lake Þingvallavatn, Iceland’s largest natural lake, where the dramatic scenery sets the tone for an incredible challenge. From there, you’ll trek through rugged mountain passes and explore geothermal valleys rich with colorful minerals and steaming springs! Each step brings a new sight, from snow-covered trails to sweeping panoramic views.

As you make your way, the Northern Lights may appear above, offering a chance to witness one of nature’s most spectacular sights! You will join a team of other Sheffield Children's supporters, and together you will help to make a real difference to children's lives.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Depart UK for Keflavik Airport and transfer to Úlfljótsvatn for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Trek from Hakið to Lake Þingvallavatn, Iceland’s largest natural lake. Approx. 10km.
Day 3: Hike from Hengill to the Vörðuskeggi mountain pass. Approx. 10km.
Day 4: Explore the geothermal valleys and transfer to Reykjavik for a celebratory dinner. Approx. 10km.
Day 5: Optional Blue Lagoon visit before returning to the UK.
