As a Sheffield mum of two lively children I know only too well the benefits of having our amazing Children’s Hospital on the doorstep. The terrific work the team at the hospital, and indeed the wider community, do to support our children never ceases to both inspire me and make me feel incredibly humble. That’s why, when I was asked to be a judge to help recognise the initiatives and the individuals that year after year support the hospital and ‘make it better’, I jumped at the chance.

During my career, in particular while at the Automobile Association, I’ve set up and run prestigious National Award events, participating in, and running, judging panels. It was great to be able to use this experience to help support the charity team in launching this event. I can honestly say, I’ve never seen an awards event with so many worthy nominees and had so many tough choices to make! Every single nominee is a real charity champion and I’d like to extend my congratulations and thanks to all.

I’ve lived in Sheffield for 33 years and have had to use the Children’s Hospital on a few occasions. As a father, the peace of mind that we have a world leading hospital for kids, with excellent dedicated staff so easily accessed, cannot be underestimated. I was proud and humbled to be asked to be a judge

I have judged a number of award ceremonies in my time but this one was very overwhelming and inspiring. The fantastic fundraising carried out by all the applicants and not just those shortlisted is phenomenal. Without these kind people supporting the Charity, the Hospital couldn’t be what it is today.

For me, everyone who was entered in the awards were already WINNERS…!!!!

It is an absolute honour to have been asked to be a judge at these awards. I have seen first hand the amazing work that the Charity does day to day and how life changing this is for the Children and their families. Having helped to promote the fundraising events, it never ceases to amaze me the dedication and commitment of the Charity team and the event participants to make a difference, sometimes themselves, battling against adversity. I have two children and am forever thankful to have this wonderful hospital just on our doorstep.

We are so grateful to each and every one of you for your support, if you haven't been nominated this year please don't worry our awards event will be back for 2020-2021 and there will be plenty of opportunity to be nominated in the future.

Thank you for your support!
