Artfelt, our arts programme
Our surroundings have a powerful effect on how we feel, and that’s especially important in a hospital, where the environment can influence wellbeing and comfort for our patients, visitors and staff.
Artfelt transforms the hospital’s walls and spaces with bright art, helping children recover in an environment tailored to them. The programme also puts on workshops for youngsters to provide distraction during anxious moments – such as before an operation, and to break up long stays on the wards.
We collaborate with artists and designers to work directly on improving our space. Those we commission create anything from colourful paintings to large scale graphics, working sensitively and creatively to address the needs of each space and its users; whether its award winning interiors, gadget-filled waiting rooms for adolescents or soothing spaces for parents.
What we do
We strive to push the boundaries of healthcare environments, making hospital the best it can be. In our Safeguarding Support Unit we commissioned digital arts studio Megaverse to produce an interactive light wall which encourages play and provides distraction.
