Lee Westwood donates a place in golf championship

24 November 2011

One amateur golfer will win the opportunity to play in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, joining the golfing elite at one of the world’s leading tournaments.
The extraordinary auction prize, donated by our patron Lee Westwood OBE, will be auctioned at our Winter Ball on Saturday.

The highest bidder will win a place in the prestigious tournament in October 2012, alongside some of the world’s leading players and A-list amateurs.

The Championship is played over the three magnificent links courses of St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns. The winner will play in the unique tournament, rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s leading golfers who have included Ernie Els, Vijay Singh and Fred Couples, alongside some major Hollywood royalty including Michael Douglas, Samuel L Jackson, Hugh Grant and Dennis Quaid.

Lee Westwood said: “The Children’s Hospital Charity does such outstanding work in fundraising for what is a cause very close to my heart, and I am thrilled that I can to do something to help them change more lives.

“I want to wish those taking part in the auction the best of luck, and remember, bid high!”

Our director, David Vernon-Edwards, said: “We’re so grateful to Lee Westwood for his generous support of The Children’s Hospital Charity with this fantastic prize. The auction is sure to be hotly contested and will help us to provide equipment and new technology for the Children’s Hospital."

Because this prize is so special, The Children’s Hospital Charity has agreed to pre-auction bids and telephone bids on the night. Please contact the charity if you wish to pass on your details for this: 0114 271 7203 .
The deadline for this has been extended to Saturday 26 November at 6pm. Please call Simon on 07774 122 845
